Pomegranate; the pretty red seed that could…I have a love affair with this pretty fruit. It’s sweet. It’s crunchy. It’s a pain in the bum to pit. Ya feel me on that last one? Luckily I came across the soak in water for an hour method a few years ago, when we were a family of four, living in our 700 square foot tiny Nashville, Tennessee duplex. I thought I hit the jackpot that day, frantically searching on google, how – to – de – seed – a – pomegranate – without – first – losing – my – mind.
So, technically this smoothie bowl took me an hour and 10 minutes to prep, but we will just ignore that hour of water bathing for the sake of this frothy, smooth and crunchy recipe.
Seriously, the crunch is a total surprise, for most. And for that reason alone, I don’t recommend drinking this smoothie out of a straw. Total choking hazard there, y’all.
“Hold up, B. Did you say frothy? What in the actual bleep?” Oh, yes. The frothy texture from this smoothie base comes from using a fresh banana verses a frozen banana. So if froth isn’t your thing, swap fresh for frozen.
Now that we got that out of the way, can I pause for a moment to tell you something really special to me? I started a YouTube channel several months ago, as a form of therapy, to help me share my families journey with severe autism and my beautiful blue-eyed boy’s progress. It was a way to decompress during difficult moments and share my excitement when he achieved something amazing. I haven’t published a video in almost a month and checked my comments just in case. I wasn’t really expecting to see any new messages, as I have just 16 subscribers. But there was one. From someone I only know through my comment section. And they asked me to please come back and make more videos. That was such a warm and loving surprise. I enjoy creating videos and vlogging our journey. And I want to keep doing it. It’s a lot of work to edit videos. A lot of work. But I’ll be back to vlogging, soon. On Friday’s.
OK back to the recipe; Thanks for letting me share that personal tidbit with you. On top of my smoothie, I had pomegranate, blueberries, 1/2 a fresh banana and chia seeds…one of my absolute favorite things.

Pomegranate Banana Almond Milk Smoothie
Just the base. Add any ingredients you desire, on top! I ate this smoothie with pomegranate, blueberries, banana and chia seeds.
- 1 Medium Banana Fresh or Frozen
- 1 Pomegranate Seeds only
- 300 mL Unsweetened Plain Almond Milk
- 2 Scoops Unflavored Collagen Peptides Protein Powder Optional
- 1 Tsp Xanthan Gum Optional, thickening agent
Add all your ingredients to the bender of your choosing and pulse until smooth. Serve immediately.
