I set out to make a Keto Diet Friendly avocado based smoothie bowl for you, however, the banana in this recipe totally wipes out that idea. I was going to replace my banana with my favorite natural sweetener instead, which I’ll do next time for sure, but had one little banana left and my little boys were about to brawl for it. So this mama used it up, fast! Also, I needed some fiber in my diet on this particular day. Long ramble aside, the banana addition is delicious. But if you’re strict Keto vs modified Keto (like me), nix the ‘nana and add your favorite sweetener instead.
One of my main challenges with my modified Keto Diet food plan (with carb cycling), is finding meals I truly enjoy, that are still Keto Approved. Bad, unhealthy habits die hard, y’all. One meal I’ve ALWAYS loved, was a chicken salad sandwich. In fact, let me tell you about the very FIRST one, I ever had.
I just turned 18, a couple weeks before. Bright-eyed, excited, anxious and equally timid, as I drove from my little farm of a hometown, into the big city of Columbus, Ohio. My palms sweaty from anticipation, wondering what my first college class would be like and if I would remember where each building was located,
It’s surprisingly warm today; this Sunday of weird. I spent all morning deep cleaning my kitchen, the one that has only 3 useable square-sized countertops (the fourth square is covered in random stuff that I try to clean off, but somehow gets all cluttered again right away). The kitchen in my 1970’s box of a house is, well, awful. The room itself is pretty large, but the actual design is just ridiculous and not a great use of space AT all. I mean, the entire house has me scratching my head wondering what the architect was thinking. The entire bottom floor is literally a SQUARE.
My very first diary entry: “Giving Thanks From My Tiny Ohio Kitchen” is 9 pages, mostly pretty photographs, a peek at my Thanksgiving Menu and what the holiday looks like for my family. Click on the magazine cover below, to read my story…
I hope you have a lovely holiday and are surrounded by so much love and delicious food.
If you are in the mood to indulge in chocolate, but don’t want to sacrifice your waistline, girl, jump into Keto. These fat bombs are killer. Now before I start sharing WHY this particular dessert is the bomb, I need to share a little secret with you. Ya ready? I hated the Keto Diet the first time I tried it. I almost didn’t try a second time, due to being doubled over in pain…for days upon days. Turns out, my body doesn’t like cured meats or a lot of dairy. Once I figure out what my body’s specific food limits were, I tried again. And holy moly Batman!
